1881

Komyosha (now Nippon Paint), founded by Jujiro Moteki, started to manufacture and provide marine paint products.

1896

The Company name was changed to Komyo KG. Hatsutaro Tasaka became the first president.

1898

The Company incorporated and renamed "Nippon Paint Manufacturing Co., Ltd." And expanded production scale to provide products to shipyards in west Japan.

1906

The Company started to research and development of antifouling paints.

1911

The Company got antifouling paint for patent (Patent No.20599)
And then, the company succeeded to provide domestic antifouling paints.

1924

Gennosuke Obata became the fourth president.

1927

Company renamed Nippon Paint Co., Ltd.

1952

The vinyl antifouling paint "Vinilex" series was launched.

1967

Shinko Shouji Co., Ltd. was established as a joint venture between Nippon Paint Co., Ltd. and Hironaka Shouji Co., Ltd., capitalized at 5 million yen (Hironaka Shouji 51%, Nippon Paint 49%). Representative Director: Nobuo Hironaka.

1970

Shinko Shouji became a wholly owned subsidiary of Nippon Paint Co., Ltd. President: Shiro Hosoya.

1971

Capital was doubled to 10 million yen. Representative Director: Yukio Kuroda. Colour-matching service plant was established. Paint application work by contract was started as the company business.

1972

Imabari Branch Office was opened.
The company was renamed Nissei Shouji Co., Ltd. Capital was again doubled to 20 million yen. President: Yukio Kuroda.

1974-1979

The Marugame Office, Hiroshima Branch Office, Onomichi Branch Office, Sasebo Business Office and Tokyo Branch Offices were opened.

1975

Capital was increased to 60 million yen accompanying expanding business.

1977

Company formed partnership with ICL (UK) in the marine paint.

1978

Self-polishing copolymer antifouling paints "SPC" series was launched.

1980

The company was renamed Nippon Paint Marine Coatings Co., Ltd. and started business association with International Coatings Ltd.

1987

Eisuke Hosomi was appointed President.

1990

Tin-free self-polishing copolymer antifouling paints "ECOLOFLEX SP" series was launched.

1994

A consistent system to conduct business activities ranging from R&D to sales of marine coatings was established.
Hiroshi Takahashi was appointed President.
Nippon Paint's marine coatings business, except for manufacturing and basic research, was transferred to Nippon Paint Marine Coatings Co., Ltd.
Taiyo Marivice Co., Ltd.'s marine coatings business was integrated into Nippon Paint Marine Coatings Co., Ltd.
The Nagasaki and Kita-Kyushu Branch Offices were opened.

1996

The Oita Office was opened.

1997

advanced anticorrosive system "NOA" series was launched.

2001

Isao Takemoto became President.

2003

The company was awarded ISO 14001 certification.

2004

Nippon Paint Marine Coatings Co., Ltd. was newly established as a joint venture between Nippon Paint Co., Ltd. and Nipsea Pte., Ltd., subsidiary of Wuthelam Holdings Pte., Ltd. (Nippon Paint : 60%, Nipsea : 40%) as of April 1.
The company terminated the association in marine coatings business with International Coatings Limited and launched independent global operations as of November 1.
The company promoted global reorganization to start overseas business.
Overseas sales subsidiaries were established in Singapore, China, Taiwan and Korea.
Company dissolved the partnership with ICL and acquired capital from Wuthelam Holdings Pte Ltd.

2005

Shiro Endo became president.

2006

Overseas sales subsidiary was established in Hong Kong.

2007

Capital was increased to 480 million yen for expanding global business.

2008

Overseas manufacturing subsidiary was established in China.(ZhangJiaGang, JIANGSU Province)
Low friction antifouling paints "LF-Sea" series was launched.

2009

Overseas sales subsidiary in Malaysia was established.
Nobuhiro Sasaki became president.

2013

Ultra low friction antifouling paints "A-LF-Sea" series was launched.

2014

Yoshiaki Kuroda became president.

2017

Biocide free self-polishing antifouling paints "AQUATERRAS" series was launched.
