THE CHALLENGES
When Nippon Paint Marine Malaysia proposed FASTAR to most owners, the first owner from India wanted to use its new technology for their vessel. The vessel was dry docked and the coating was applied to the external hull with time frame provided by shipyard. After docking out, the vessel was berthed at quay side shipyard for other repairs―steel renewal, WBT painting and etc.―more than 60 days. The antifouling condition was considered to be challenging due to the long static condition of the vessel.
THE RESULTS
The vessel sailed out after 60 days of repair and the antifouling condition stayed great with FASTAR. According to the TW Ship Management General Manager―Technical Mr. Shwetabh Sharma, the sailing was smooth and there was no dragging issue on the vessel engine. The condition of sailing was same as when the vessel was newly painted.
